A clean start

After the initial day of apartment searches, I stil am in dire need of a good place to live. The problem is all apartments on the island are about the same size - no bigger than 600 or 630 square feet, unless you go up to 1100 square feet right away. There's not a wide variety of sizes, so my goal of a 700 or 800 square foot place might be hosed.
But despite the small apartments here, and the availability of cheap laundrys everywhere here, they still tout that there are washers and, occasionally, dryers in the apartments. When space is at a premium, I could think of much better uses for the space, than, say, washers. Feh.
