Oh, those tricky dick beauty-fiers
1) Recently, I lamented that Dick Beauty was no more. Well, it must have been remodeling, because it's back open in my hood again. Woohoo!
2) My happiness over that was tempered by looking at my credit card statement and seeing that the Milwaukee Airport charges $4 for you to rent a little cart to push your luggage from the curb to the check-in. Dear America: It's little things like this that angers travelers. We pay a lot in airport fees and other stuff, and here in Asia, you're not treated like a sopping sponge filled with money that they can wring out of you. In most other countries I have visited, airports like to be nice to frazzled travelers - heck, I even remember San Francisco having free carts for travelers to use for that 30 or 40 feet they need it. But not MKE and O'Hare in Chicago. $4 is nothing - what, a cup of coffee? - but it's the thought that counts.
3) Not all things are perfect here. My Internet/cable TV provider will not mail you a paper bill, even if you ask. You can only access it online. Except that whenever I try to log in to look at my bill online, the web site always errors out. I have tried 5 different brands of browers, including some on both Mac and PC, with no luck. Dear PCCW: If you are going to be a leading Internet provider, you should probably make sure your own web site works. Just sayin'.
4) It's that magical time of the year, of mini Japanese mikan oranges everywhere in the stores (like tangerines, but better), which also means that in a few weeks, Lunar New Year hits and the town empties out for 4 days. Woohoo!
5) If anyone has suggestions on where I can spend a week in early March, just let me know.
